My name is Diana and I was born into a family with a strong connection to the woodlands and a long tradition in wood work.
My great grandfather produced coal during the 30’s and 40’s, and managed pine woodlands all his life. My grandfather started working as a young boy on all things related to wood, starting his own wood furniture manufacturing and restoration business in the 70’s. Over 50+ years later, the workshop is still running, now under my uncle’s skilful hands, lifetime experience and contemporary taste.
At the age of 24, I became a forest engineer and worked as such for 7 years, until I met Rui, a world traveller with business and IT background.
Together we worked towards a more natural and simple way of life. We led a nomadic lifestyle until our travels brought us to La Santa, Lanzarote, and together we started Emporio Canario as one of the many expressions of our quest.
Now that Rui is only present in spirit, I still refer to “us” when it comes to this endeavor of love.
Open since 2019, Emporio Canario is a small, local business which has given us many happy moments, as well as a few challenges which were overcome with the help and support of like-minded family members and friends, for which we are very thankful.
